Made in Naples at Palazzo Marigliano
Made in Naples at Palazzo MariglianoThe exquisite By M. book clutches are handcrafted in a fine bookbindery located in the courtyard of the aristocratic Palazzo Marigliano, Maria’s family home for generations.
Palazzo Marigliano, built in the 15th century, is situated in the historic heart of Naples on Via San Biagio dei Librai – translated as the “Street of Saint Blaise of the Book Sellers”. It is in fact this street that sparked Maria’s inspiration for her first collection.

Today the building is recognized as the best sample of Renaissance architecture in Naples and it is also a national historical monument. Although it mostly houses the offices of the town’s archives, it still belongs to Maria’s family.
Naples itself has a very long tradition in bookbinding. In the 17th century, the use of printing grew rapidly and the town’s flourishing intellectual circles attracted book merchants from all over Europe. This encouraged the development of a tradition of unique craftsmanship. Some of the oldest libraries in Italy lay hidden in this beautiful historical Palazzi. We highly recommend a visit.
