Layla and Majnun is one of the oldest love stories in Arab literature. It was translated into a Persian poem by Nizami Ganjavi. The story is based on an old, 7th century Arabic legend, commonly referred to by literary experts as the Eastern culture’s version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
